Introduction
Postern Hill campsite is located next to Savernake Forest, which is steeped in history. Far back to where Henry V111 courted and then married Jane Seymore. Marlborough town is just 1 mile from the site. Where you will find many cafes, pubs, where you can enjoy a meal or drink. It is a great place from which to explore Wiltshire.
The site is mostly flat and generally open, except for the surrounding Savernake Forest.
The site offers a mixture of grass only and grass with electric pitches.
Mobile signal is reasonable on site but can vary depending upon pitch location and tree coverage.
Television signal is not very good but can vary depending on pitch location and tree coverage.
There is no public payphone on site.
Your Arrival on Site
The earliest arrival time on site is 12pm, however earlier can be possible by arrangement. Please call ahead if unexpectedly arriving earlier to ensure there are staff to greet you.
Approach surface is tarmac. The Site has a sign on the main road, just before the turning, which is the only entrance to the site and entrance to Savernake Forest car park.
Arrival surface is level tarmac, with a gated approach. Reception is signposted and clearly visible.
The gate is opened manually, it is kept closed throughout the day and locked at night, between the hours of 10pm – 7.30am.
There is no specifically designated accessible parking so please discuss requirements with the office if needed.
There is a bus stop outside the site by the main entrance, either side of the road, but there is no bus stop sign. Only one bus service, stops. You can go as far as Ludgershall one way or down into Marlborough and as far as Swindon, the other way. Doesn’t run on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
There are Taxi services in Marlborough, some allow dogs.
Your Check In
The Reception is the building on the left as you drive into the site. The
Reception is clearly signposted.
Access to Reception is via the road that circles around the site.
There is a ramp into Reception. There is a wide doorway with a shallow ridge at the
bottom and the doors open outwards. The floor space is free from clutter and there is turning room
for wheelchairs in the reception.
The reception is open variable hours (see office hours under site contact details) but an emergency contact number is displayed for out of hours contacts so on-site staff can attend.
Staff are on duty variable hours but an emergency telephone number is provided for blue light emergencies when the office is closed. This phone number can be found on reception door. Staff live on site so can always provide assistance in case of emergency.

reception, and on the Site Welcome Leaflet.
Your Pitch
As you look at the site from reception. All Grass with electric pitches are to the left. Most electric bollards have four outlets. All pitches are undefined.
The ground is uneven for both type of pitches and chocks may be required.
Campers can park their vehicle next to their unit. Sometimes if weather is bad, they may be asked to move their vehicle elsewhere, but please discuss with the team so the best pitch is offered.
Travelling Around Site
The entrance road is tarmac, but there are a few potholes. Once past the entrance gate, the road is tarmac and there are speed bumps. There is a speed limit around the site of 5 mph. A one-way system is in operation around the main camping area and this is clearly signed.
There is one circular road around the site, but no footpaths to facilities.
A torch is recommended when walking around the site at night as there is no additional night lighting away from the facilities blocks.
There are rabbit holes and mole hills in the camping areas throughout the site and (these are cleared on a regular basis). There are many raised tree roots in the camping area.
For the safety of all our guests and to ensure the site can be enjoyed in peace by all, e-scooters and the like cannot be used on our sites
Facility Block
There is no path leading to the facility block. There are two ramps up to the toilet facilities, with handrails. There is a step into the toilets. There is one step up to the washing up area, the floor is made up of paving stones. There is no handrail here.
There are no showers on site.
The taps are push button.
The facility block is lit at night.
There is no wheelchair access to the facilities.
Assistance dogs are permitted in the facility block.
There are no Accessible facilities.
There is a hand dryer.
The floor is non-slip.
Assistance dogs are permitted in the facility block.
Dish wash area
This area is located at the back of the facility block. There are no handrails leading to this area or within the areas. There is a step up to the area. There are two stainless steel sinks.
The taps are push button.
Recreational Areas
There is no indoor Recreational Area.
Waste, Water, Fire and Evacuation
There are 4 waste bin areas situated around the site. They all have stock fencing around three sides, to house the bins. They all face onto the road, so easy access.
The Waste Containers/bins are 128cm high with lids.
There is flat, level access to all water taps, but no paths.

Wastewater carriers need to be moved over a ridge of approximately 10 cm to be emptied.
The site has three CDPs situated throughout the site and they are marked on the site information map.
There are fire bells & fire extinguishers situated around the site. There is unrestricted access to the firefighting equipment.
