Postern Hill Campsite are to host Forage Box on various dates throughout the winter with their outstanding “Introduction to Foraging Workshops”
Here is what you can expect from your foraging workshop: A circular walking route taking in different growing environments around the site within the wooded boundaries of Postern Hill Campsite, nestled within the Ancient Savernake Forest. Expect a route of around 1-2km predominantly on footpaths. A closer look at edible wild species and any poisonous lookalikes by a professional forager.
A chance to immerse yourself in a soul-nourishing activity & reconnect with nature . This session will include a wild feast with items made in advance by our passionate tutor!

Pre-booking this popular activity is essential as SPACES ARE LIMITED and should be booked in advance. Non Campers and local residents are also encouraged to book tickets, and if parking on site a £5 per car fee will apply paid to the campsite on arrival.

Postern Hill campsite is situated with direct walking trails into the grand and historic Savernake Forest, with beautiful walks for all to discover the ancient trees and enjoy.
Savernake Forest is rich in history and has lots to explore. It is a Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI) as well as a registered important historic park, making it the perfect forest for an exciting and educational day out.
The history of the forest goes back for a thousand years or more. Its long history of human management has created an outstanding legacy of old trees, rich landscapes, and diverse habitats. One of the country's oldest trees, the Big Bellied Oak, is very noticeable on the side of the A346.
Fabulous natural woods are in abundance in close proximity to Postern Hill too, including West Woods, said to be the site some of the great stones of Stonehenge hailed from, along with Nightingale Wood and Webb's wood. There's so much to see and discover.
Situated in the picturesque rural north-east of Wiltshire, and the site of a twice-weekly market, the High Street is one of the widest in the UK and lines on both sides, with characterful old buildings housing an array of high quality shops.
The Merchant's House - one of the finest 17th century middle-class homes open to visitors in England - is also to be found on the High Street here and contains a wealth of period features, paintings and artefacts and on-going restoration. Also on Marlborough’s High Street is St Peter’s Church, now a community centre. At certain times visitors can do a tower tour for great views over the town.
Amongst Marlborough’s many claims to fame is the mysterious Merlin’s Mound which can be found within the grounds of Marlborough College and is the reputed burial place of the wizard Merlin.
Visit Westonbirt - The National Arboretum, Home to 2,500 different species from the far corners of the globe and 5 national tree collections, Westonbirt is the perfect place for you to escape, relax or have an adventure!
Take a journey up into the canopy on the STIHL Tree Top Walkway, stop by the café for a tasty treat or see if you can spot the Gruffalo!
The little ones will also find a Play Area and Zog Trail to keep them amused on their visit!
Set high above the village of Wilton, about 9 miles south east of Marlborough in Wiltshire, Wilton Windmill is the only working windmill in Wessex and still produces wholemeal, stone-ground flour.
Postern Hill campsite has direct walking trails from the site directly into the ancient Savernake Forest, with beautiful walks and great trees for all to discover and enjoy.
We're also just a short drive from famous National Trust and English Heritage sites such as Avebury Stones and Stonehenge , the Marlborough White Horse , Barbury Castle , West Kennet Long Barrow, Pewsey Wharf, Silbury Hill and so many more places of interest.
With excellent road and transport links to Swindon, Bath, Windsor, the Cotswolds and Salisbury, you're never short of things to do.
